Many service truck operations require crane capability for lifting heavy components and managing daily tasks. Every 11 Series Service Body includes a crane prep package that provides the structural reinforcement and mounting provisions needed for crane installation.
The rear D4 compartment features robust structural reinforcement designed to handle the mounting loads and operational stresses from most common crane brands and sizes. This integrated reinforcement distributes crane weight and lifting forces properly through the body frame, preventing the stress concentration and material fatigue that occurs when cranes are mounted to bodies not designed for the loads.
Factory reinforcement eliminates the need for aftermarket structural modifications that can compromise body integrity or void warranties. The prep work is completed during body manufacturing when proper bracing and mounting points can be integrated cleanly into the overall structure.
The crane boom rest comes standard as part of the prep package, providing a secure mounting point that keeps the boom stable during transit and when the crane isn’t in use. Proper boom support prevents the oscillation and movement that stresses crane hydraulics and mounting hardware during road travel.
The boom rest positioning integrates with the body design to maintain access to compartments while securing the crane in its stowed position.
The crane prep package can be configured for either driver-side or passenger-side mounting, offering flexibility to match your specific workflow and truck setup. Side selection typically depends on how you position trucks at job sites, what you’re lifting, and which side provides better operator visibility during crane operation.
This customizable setup lets you optimize crane placement based on your actual working conditions rather than accepting a fixed configuration that might not suit your operation.
The crane prep package simplifies the installation process when you’re ready to add crane capability. The structural work, mounting provisions, and boom rest are already in place, reducing installation time and ensuring proper integration with the body’s design.
Crane prep pairs with other 11 Series features including the workbench bumper with hydraulic outriggers that provides stability during lifting operations. Browse our selection of Cobra Cranes or explore work-ready service truck packages with cranes already installed.
