The Handheld Wireless Remote for Cobra Cranes

Service Trucks | February 13, 2025

Precision and positioning flexibility define effective crane operation on service trucks. Every Cobra Crane we install includes a handheld wireless remote as standard equipment, enabling operators to control lifts from optimal vantage points rather than being tethered to fixed control positions.

Proportional Trigger Control

The proportional trigger delivers variable speed control based on trigger pressure. Light pressure produces slow, controlled movements for precise positioning, while full pressure speeds operation for efficiency. This graduated control prevents the jerky starts and stops that occur with simple on-off switches, improving load stability and reducing stress on crane components.

Hardwired Backup System

The removable hardwired cable provides immediate backup if wireless batteries fail during operation. Connect the cable directly to the crane and continue working without interruption. This redundancy eliminates downtime from dead batteries and ensures you can complete lifts even when wireless function isn’t available.

Magnetic Mounting

Heavy-duty magnetic backing attaches the remote securely to any metal surface on the service body. The remote stays accessible and visible rather than getting buried in toolboxes or left in the cab. Magnetic mounting also prevents the remote from falling during transport or getting damaged by being stored loose.

Operational Advantages

Wireless operation lets operators position themselves for optimal visibility during lifts, so that they can see both the load and the landing zone simultaneously rather than operating blind from a fixed control station. This visibility reduces accidents and improves placement accuracy, particularly in tight spaces or on complex job sites.

The remote adapts to confined work environments where positioning the truck perfectly isn’t possible. Operate from the side, front, or rear depending on what the job site allows, maintaining full crane control regardless of truck position.

Standard on All Cobra Installations

The wireless remote comes standard on every Cobra Crane installation we perform. It’s integrated during the initial setup, ensuring proper pairing and function testing before the truck leaves our facility.

Cobra Cranes pair well with 11 Series Service Bodies that include features like the workbench bumper designed specifically for crane-equipped trucks. Browse our service truck packages with Cobra Cranes already installed, or contact us to discuss crane options for your specific operation.
